The Center for Cancer Care has received certificates of full accreditation from The American College of Radiation Oncology for both of its radiation treatment facilities.

Both the Princeton and Fairlea offices received three-year accreditation certificates, the highest level of accreditation possible.

"The ACRO review process utilized to evaluate our practices consisted of in-depth appraisals of our practice facilities, equipment, policies, procedures, staff and clinical treatment methods," explains Dr. Charles E. Gabe, a board-certified radiation oncology at The Center for Cancer Care. "This evaluation was conducted by board-certified radiation oncologists and radiation physicists, members of the ACRO Physics Commission and members of the ACRO Practice Accreditation Subcommittee."

The Center for Cancer Care's Princeton and Fairlea treatment offices are two of only three accredited radiation therapy centers in the state of West Virginia. The other accredited facility is Shiffler Oncology Center in Wheeling.

Dr. Gabe says that the American College of Radiation Oncology's goal is the same as that of The Center for Cancer Care: to uphold the standards of good radiation oncology practice by establishing and maintaining high quality radiation oncology services.

"The ACRO review and accreditation assures us that our treatment techniques, staffing levels, policies, procedures and equipment are in compliance with currently accepted national standards," notes Dr. Charles H. Shelton III, also a board-certified radiation oncologist at The Center for Cancer Care. "Receiving radiation therapy by an accredited facility is also reassuring for our patients. They know they are receiving the highest-level of cancer care possible."

The Center for Cancer Care offers a full range of radiation therapy services, including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), the most significant technological breakthrough in cancer treatment in decades.
